Overview
From the moment you witness former assassin Alastair Coldhollow discover the sword in the stars, you will be riveted to the very real hope that God can use even the most broken among us for great deeds. Kids will find themselves tearing through the pages as they discover the world of Myriad…a world filled with strange peoples like the Windborne, Stonehands, and the Marinaens. And creatures such as Wights, Rook, and the Spirax. Parents will love the connections that their kids will make when they realize that God is full of surprises and that sin is never to be toyed with. Sword in the Stars, the first of seven books in the series, is the breathtaking launch of an epic fantasy that will draw readers to come on a long and perilous adventure that will make them better for having gone on the journey.
Quotes from the Book
When the moon is blood red
and the Sword is in the stars, the Man of Ice will call Him, the Hero from afar. “The sword is in the stars, at last!” he cried, looking to the soft pink glow on the horizon. “and the Star Sword points to...why, that must be the mining city, Thel- Mizaret. So the Hero will come from the City of Jewels. and I, the Caller shall go with all speed to call Him forth!” Alastair remembered how his mother had treated him when he’d failed, so he looked kindly upon the lad. “You’re a brave young man, Carvel. You came out and contested, when so many others stayed on the wall or—” he drew close to Carvel and whis- pered— “or climbed trees to watch.” But all who knew the two brothers well came to recognize an unmistakable difference, a peculiarity felt rather than seen. For those who stood before King Aravel’s gaze felt the glad firelight of a banquet hall or the warmth of the sun on bare flesh. But those who fell under Mor- lan’s stare felt the frosty gleam of winter moonlight on jagged steel or the cold, white stone monuments in a bone yard. ...and His crown will not be made of gold, silver, or precious cyrium. Rather, it will be forged of iron. Through great calamity and peril He will bear this crown. Walk- ing many long and lonely paths, He will bear this crown. even in the shedding of His blood, He will bear this crown. “open war, Morlan?” aravel asked, his ruddy cheeks turn-
ing scarlet. “You advise me to declare open war on the Gorrack nation?” Morlan held up the Gorrack pike. “nay, I advise you to answer the challenge, for they have already declared open war on us.” The latch swung loose. The shutters parted and flew open. Two more rooks screeched as they leaped in from the windowsill. at last, the child cried. |
